2012 Honda Fit Takes Subcompact Shootout

We aren't very surprised that the 2012 Honda Fit is Cars.com's most recent $16,000 Subcompact Shootout winner. After all, the 2012 Fit has already won several awards since its premier. It's been recognized as a six-time winner of Car and Driver's "10BestCars" award, a TOP SAFETY PICK by the IIHS, and has received the 2012 Residential Value Award from ALG, to name a few. So, when the Fit crushed six other compacts in the Shootout, we didn't bat an eye.

The new Honda Fit competed against 4-door subcompact cars that seat at least four passengers, that get at least 35 mpg on the highway, and that have a starting price under $16,000. The cars were tested by USA Today, Cars.Com, and  "MotorWeek," to judge how they stacked up with the average consumer's needs in terms of practicality, standard and available features, fuel economy, and cabin comfort.

Michael Accabitti, Vice President of Marketing Operations for Honda, speaks about the Shootout, stating, "We are thrilled to have the exceptional package that is the Honda Fit recognized by such a well-respected group of automotive media. To have topped such a wide group of competition in such a thorough, real-world evaluation demonstrates that Honda versatility, value and fun are standard even in our most affordable model."1
