New Standard Safety Feature Available for Most 2013 Models

What do you look for when you're searching for a new vehicle?  If safety is your top concern, you should consider purchasing a new Honda vehicle. The 2013 Honda models are starting to roll into University Honda, conveniently located at 4343 Chiles Road Davis, CA 95618, and most of them come standard with a great safety feature: a back-up camera! Applicable 2013 models include the Honda Crosstour, Honda Fit EV, Honda Pilot, Honda CR-Z, and the Honda Ridgeline.

On previous Honda models, review cameras were only available options that went along the brand's navigation system. With the feature now added to many models as standard however, Honda leads the industry in offering the feature with most models, with Kia and Hyundai trailing behind. One reason Honda made the change could be because backup cameras may be mandated by law for all new vehicles by 2014.

Honda spokesman Chris Martin explains, "'Visibility is a key design attribute at Honda'. . . [He] mentioned how the automaker makes sure to design and maintain a thin A-pillar on its new vehicles to optimize forward visibility. The other motivator to standardize cameras is that most of the building blocks for the rear visibility aid are already in each of these vehicles, Martin said. 'What really made the push possible was the infotainment screens found on most of these models.'"1

For some of the safest autos around, choose a Honda!  Stop by University Honda today to test drive your favorite new model!
